รายละเอียด : หนึ่งมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่สืบทอดมาแต่ครั้งกรุงศรีอยุธยา จะมีการแข่งเรือยาวเมื่อถึงพระราชพิธีเดือน 11 เพื่อฝึกปรือกำลังพลทหารประจำกองเรือ ส่วนการแข่งขันเรือยาวประเพณีของชาวบ้านทั่วไปจะจัดในช่วงเทศกาลกอดกฐิน ทอดผ้าป่า มีขึ้นหลังเสร็จพิธีการทางศาสนาเพื่อความสนุกสนาน ปัจจุบันการแข่งเรือกลายมาเป็นกีฬาระดับประเทศนิยมแข่งกันตามลุ่มน้ำสำคัญๆ อาทิ จังหวัดพิจิตร น่าน ชุมพร เป็นต้น
เรือยาวประเพณี ถือเป็นการแข่งขันที่พิสูจน์ความสามัคคีเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกัน ของฝีพถายในแต่ละลำเรือ เสน่ห์คือจังหวะความพร้อมเพรียงในการพาย ขณะที่การพากย์เสียงของพิธีกรประจำสนามเป็นอีกสีสันที่สร้างความตื่นเต้นเร้าใจบางแห่งมีการชิงธงเพื่อเป็นผู้ชนะ เช่น ประเพณีแข่งเรือขึ้นโชนชิงธงที่จังหวัดชุมพร ซึ่งเป็นภาพในแสตมป์ 2 ดวง ของชุดนี้ ส่วนอีกสองดวงเป็นบรรยากาศประเพณีแข่งเรือจังหวัดน่าน โดยได้รับความอนุเคราะห์ภาพจากการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย และ กองประชาสัมพันธ์งานประเพณีแข่งเรือยาว จ.ชุมพร

Description : As one of the cultural heritages from Ayutthaya period, the traditional long boat racing was held as a part of the Royal Ceremony of the 11th linar month with a purpose to trian the strength of fleet soldiers at that time. However, for entertainment purpose during Kathin or Pha Pa making-merit festival. Up to the present, this traditional boat race has become a national sport and it is remarkably popular in some provinces namely Phichit, Nan and Chumphon for it represents the unison of the oarsmen of each team. The charm is that thier stroke must be in harmonious rhythm and the recital which always arouses the excitement throughout the rvent. The boat racing in some provinces such as Chumphon has set a special rule that a rower of each team must climb the bow forward to snath a flag for complete victory. Therefore, two illstrations of this stapm issue are the boat racing scenes from Chumphon while the other two are long boat racing of Nan province. The pictures were suoorted by Tourism Authority of Thailand and Public Relations Department of Chomphon Traditional Long Boat Race.
